TES Instrument Description

Every scientific discipline has it's host of technical journals. These are where scientists publish the results of their work. One of the main journals that publishes scientific papers about the planets is called the Journal of Geophysical Research, published by the American Geophysical Union. Papers for this journal are typically reviewed by two independent scientists selected by the journal editor, to ensure high scientific quality.

The Mars Observer instruments were all described together in a special issue of the Journal of Geophysical Research on May 25, 1992. Thermal Emission Spectrometer (TES) paper by Philip Christensen and his colleagues was published in this issue.
