CONTEST

MARS GLOBAL SURVEYOR

Design the MGS Logo and Patch

Anyone may enter and there are two opportunities to win:

1. Design a logo for the Project that is suitable for lapel pins, presentation graphics, suitable for use throughout the Project's life. The logo design will be used on the launch vehicle.

The logo may be any shape, should be simple, must convey something unique about the Project, such as its initials, name, the outline of the spacecraft, the planet Mars, the symbol for Mars, etc. Minimal use of color is preferred.

2. Design a patch for the Project that conveys more information about the mission (than does a logo), for use on shirts, hats, as a sew-on patch, and document covers, etc.

The patch may be any shape (round, square, or rectangular) and color. It may include any of the following: a picture of the spacecraft, the flight path from Earth to Mars, the planet Mars, the Delta II launch vehicle, the names or initials of the principal project team members (NASA, JPL, Martin Marietta, McDonnell Douglas). It must show something in an "eye catching" graphical manner about the mission.
