PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT NOTE = "Revision comments for the MGS-TES Data Tool, a web-based Vanilla query interface" PUBLICATION_DATE = 2012-01-05 END_OBJECT = TEXT END ABOUT THE MGS-TES DATA TOOL The TES Data Tool (http://tes.asu.edu/data_tool/) provides access to all data available in the Mars Global Surveyor Thermal Emission Spectrometer (MGS-TES) Data Archive. The tool allows users to select fields and define constraints that are used to query the TES data tables with the Vanilla software. More information about the dataset and the software are available at http://tes.asu.edu/documentation/index.html. REVISION LOG FOR THE MGS-TES DATA TOOL This document contains comments and errata concerning the MGS-TES Data Tool beginning with the changes made during summer 2011. Errata items are listed chronologically by date. 2011-07-05 Added New Constraint and Selection Options for Scan Length A new constraint option was added to allow no constraint (None) on the wavelength field value; the default remains unchanged set to constrain Scan Length = singles (10 cm-1). Also, the Scan Length value per observation may be selected for return using the field entry newly added under the "Additional OBS Fields" menu. These changes were made primarily to eliminate inappropriate wavelength constraints when querying bolometric data. The TES Team Scientists highly recommend defining a Scan Length constraint whenever spectral data and/or spectral derived fields are selected for return. Additional information may be found in the updated Glossary entries for: Emissivity, Radiance, and Wavelength/Scan Length. 2011-08-26 Typographic Error in Short Wave Depth Index Glossary Entry Corrected An error in the glossary entry for Emissivity Indexes and Ratios, Short Wave Depth Index was corrected. This index is actually calculated over the wavelength range of 1354-1397 (cm-1). Note this errata is only a documentation error; there is no change to the data returned by selecting this field. 2012-01-05 TES Data Tool Temporarily Unavailable The TES Data Tool will be temporarily unvailable on 2012-01-05 for system maintenance. Update: the tool should now be fully operational. Thank you for your patience.
