Hooray for Mars Pathfinder and Sojournerby Ken Edgett, Arizona State University  Congratulations to the Mars Pathfinder Team for their wonderful success with the Mars Pathfinder and Sojourner mission! The absolutely spectacular landing occurred July 4, 1997. The pictures and results returned thus far have been spell-binding. This image was taken by the rover, Sojourner, as it looked back at the lander from the northeast. "W" is one of the three wind socks that were made on the ASU campus ( see article for details).
