Senorita Extraviada
documentary screening
March 30th 2004-7pm S.C.O.B.
#228

Since 1993
more than 370 women have been abducted or murdered in Juarez, Chihuahua
Mexico. At least 137 have been sexually assaulted. Most of these
crimes have remained unsolved and little is currently being done by
Mexican authorities to solve them. Amnesty International along with many
other organizations is trying to raise awareness on this pressing issue.
Amnesty
International at ASU, The Mexican Students Association, Women in Black,
Coalition of Students Seeking Change, Lambda Theta Alpha, V-DAY and many
more will be out on Hayden lawn to present ASU and the community with
information on the Issue, performances by local artists, artwork,
possibly Congressmen Grijalva, and other speakers. The A will be painted
pink that day to demonstrate solidarity for these women.
The event will conclude with a
screening of Lourdes Portillo’s documentary Senorita Extraviada.
